Management Toolbox

Who should participate:  managers and HR professionals (pre-approved for 1.5 HRCI and SHRM credits each session)

Schedule:  each session is 1.5-hours and offered separately

Objective:  to keep you current with the ever-changing HR role and best practices

Employment Law Certificate Program

Who should participate:  HR assistants and those new to HR management, HR professionals, managers, and supervisors (pre-approved for 8.25 HRCI and SHRM credits)

Schedule:  three 3-hour sessions in August or September, one week apart

Objective:  to help managers understand the many legal issues in the employment relationship and gain the basic skills needed to avoid litigation and create positive employee relations.

  • Defining HR's role in your organization
  • Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA)
  • NC Wage & Hour and Equal Employment laws
  • Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA)
  • Immigration and the I-9 process
  • Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA/ADAAA)
  • And more

 

HR Business Partner Certificate Program

Who should participate:  HR management professionals

Schedule:  three 3-hour sessions for each of two topics

  • Employment Processes & Legal Compliance (8.25 HRCI and SHRM general credits) covers recordkeeping, communications, the employment process, workplace investigation, employee handbooks, and management
  • Strategic Results & Business Alignment (8.25 HRCI and SHRM strategic credits) covers change management, critical management skills, strategic planning & outcomes, strategy & the legislative environment

Objective:  to equip HR leaders to shift their focus from day-to-day departmental work to creating a departmental vision, by defining and aligning the HR function to achieve larger organizational goals.

 

HR Certification Guided Study

Who should participate:  anyone preparing to take the PHR or SPHR national certification exam

Schedule:  six 2-hour sessions + personal study time

  1. Business Management & Strategy
  2. Workforce Planning & Employment
  3. Human Resource Development
  4. Compensation & Benefits
  5. Employee & Labor Relations
  6. Risk Management

Objective:  to enable you to successfully pass the HRCI national certification exam. Any participant who does not pass the exam after completing this program can repeat the course for only the cost of materials.

Note: the WCI study course does not include the cost of the HRCI application or exam. However, a $50 discount on the exam is included, and one first-time exam-taker will be able to take the exam free of charge.
